Allow me to begin by saying that In my opinion that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I have been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from going through a program. My family was unaware of the Equanimity and Christianity available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the correct choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Choosing the real cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, when the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like a lot of addicts I began out smoking pot and progressed from that point until I used to be doing my drug of preference daily at the cost of everything and everyone around me. I lost precious time with my oldest daughter and many years of a meaningful relationship with our family. During your addiction you don’t genuinely have friends, you may have your partying buddies and when a crisis pops up in your life these are no where available. Real friends walk along with you through everything. My addiction included alcohol in addition to drugs and I drank almost everyday. As soon as I made the decision to avoid the addiction cycle in my life, it became a step at a time and it also was hard.
After I began coming from my addictive lifestyle the things i present in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships with no real idea what I was going to do along with the rest of my life. I truly began a step at a time and one day at a time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process is when I decided to permit God directly into help me. It took several years but healing came, direction for my entire life came and my marriage flourished. I completed Secondary School, graduated from College and have started my own, personal business, which now incorporates a business which allows me to work at home through a blogging service.
Addiction Recovery Can Be Done. Once the cause for any addiction is identified and worked through after that your main reason for your addiction has stopped being an aspect. Many wish to remain a victim with their circumstance, not realizing what the future would hold to them when they would forget about their victim mentality. Constructing a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is through that relationship that true healing took place.
My wish for drugs and alcohol is totally gone. Through building a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered feelings of purpose for my entire life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to turn into a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has developed into a company owner). My path to recovery might have taken a much different route whenever we had known regarding the programs available to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not only to the addicts but to there families as well.

First as being a Development Director then being a Program Director. While this is a great program there have been some additional steps i wanted to offer those seeking help, so my partner and i also opened our personal recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived with us for approximately per year so we dealt with them in depth, it absolutely was just about the most rewarding experience I have ever endured in my life.
We closed this program because we knew the time had come to move in a different direction with our lives, but we have been always reaching out to those searching for help themselves or a family member looking for help for one that they love. I am just about to start doing a bit of volunteer employ a program inside our area. Working to help addicts overcome their addiction is very rewarding work in fact it is a thing that I will be part of for the remainder of my well being in one method or another.
